Enter a machine's purchase price to see its TCO
A machine's total cost of ownership (TCO) is computed from its purchase price. Without a purchase price, the machine appears neither in the ranking nor in the scorecard.
Step 1 : Open the machine editor
In “Machines”, tap the cog-shaped icon on the machine's card: it is “Edit the machine” (see edit a machine).
Step 2 : Find the costs box
Scroll down to the “Acquisition & TCO (Optional)” box ("For the profitability calculation").
Step 3 : Fill in what you know
Enter the purchase price, the “Purchase date”, the estimated resale value, the lifespan (in hours or kilometres) and the “Depreciation (years)”. Leave empty what you do not know: you can fill it in later.
Step 4 : Save
Click “Save changes”. The machine then appears in the TCO ranking, and its scorecard becomes visible.
Good to know
- The lifespan is used to show how much of the machine's life is already used. The depreciation period (in years) is used to compare maintenance cost with annual depreciation; without it, KALEA compares cumulative maintenance with the purchase price.
- The hourly downtime cost is another field of this box: empty, it takes the category's cost.
- This box is only shown if the Costs & TCO module is available to you, depending on your plan: see the plans.
- In the ranking, a message lists machines with no purchase price, with a “Fix the prices” button that leads to “Machines”.
