Link a machine to a tracker and locate it
Once the source is created, you still need to say which machine matches which tracker. The machine then switches to an automatic meter; you can also make it appear on the map.
Step 1 : Find the machine
In “Machines”, “Telemetry” tab, the “Linked machines” block lists all your machines. Under the name, you see "Manual entry" or the latest automatic reading.
Step 2 : Choose the source
In the machine's list, choose your source instead of “Manual entry”. The list is greyed out while no source exists: see create a telemetry source.
Step 3 : Enter the tracker's identifier
In “Tracker identifier”, type the identifier (IMEI, VIN…). It is required as soon as a source is chosen, and one identifier cannot be linked to two machines.
Step 4 : Save
Click “Save” on the machine's line. It turns green and the button shows “Saved ✓”. The machine then waits for its first reading: "Waiting for the first reading".
Step 5 : Locate it if you wish
Tick “Track location”: the box is only active after a source is saved. The machine then appears in the “Machine map” block from its next position reading.
Good to know
- On the machine's card in “Machines”, an "Auto · … ago" badge shows the latest reading received: see what does "Auto · no signal" mean?.
- Only machines with “Track location” ticked appear on the map. Their position is kept for 60 days then deleted; unticking the box deletes the position and the track straight away, after confirmation.
- In a machine's window on the map, you can display the track over 24 h, 7 days or 60 days.
- The map needs an internet connection to display the background map; meters stay up to date without it.
- To put a machine back to manual entry, choose “Manual entry” then “Save”.
