KALEA

Understand hourly cost and set a threshold

A machine's hourly cost is its total cost divided by its meter (hours or kilometres). The threshold is the hourly cost above which KALEA flags it as too expensive in use.

  1. Step 1 : Open the thresholds

In “Costs & TCO”, open the “Cost thresholds” tab. There is one line per machine category in your fleet.

  2. Step 2 : Spot your average

On each line, a "Current avg." label gives the average hourly cost of the category's machines. It fills in once the ranking has loaded. The “How is this benchmark calculated?” detail explains the indicative depreciation.

  3. Step 3 : Choose a threshold

Aim slightly above your average, otherwise half your fleet would be flagged all the time. The “+10% above average” button suggests that starting point; you can also type it by hand, in currency per hour.

  4. Step 4 : Save

Click “Save thresholds”. KALEA shows "Thresholds saved".

Good to know

  • Hourly cost depends on the meter reading: without a meter in hours or kilometres, it cannot be computed.
  • An empty field means no threshold for that category: no gap is then shown anywhere.
  • The threshold is used for the gap shown in the ranking, on the dashboard and in the report: see read the TCO ranking.
  • The “How do I set a sensible threshold?” box repeats this advice in the app.
  • Only the Administrator or the Director can edit thresholds; others see "Manager only.".
