Add a machine or a vehicle

A machine, a piece of equipment or a vehicle is added in a single window. You enter its identity, its meter, its maintenance plan and its photo, then it appears in the list.

   Step 1 : Open the add window

   In the menu, open “Machines”, then click “Add a machine” (on a phone: “Add”). On a phone, the + button in the bottom bar also gives access to “Add a machine”. If your plan limits the number of machines and that limit is reached, KALEA opens the plans window instead.

   Step 2 : Choose the type

   Under “Main tracking unit type”, choose “Machine / Construction equipment” (tracked with an hour meter, in hours) or “Road vehicle / Van” (tracked with an odometer, in kilometres). This choice changes the identification field: “Serial no.” for a machine, “Number plate” for a vehicle.

   Step 3 : Enter the identity and the meter

   Fill in “Machine name”, choose the “Category” (see choose or create a category), then the make, model, year and commissioning date. Next, enter the current meter reading (“Current hour meter” or “Current odometer reading”): it is required, enter 0 if the machine is new. Optional: under “Last service (optional)”, choose “I don't know”, “Never done” or “Already done”.

   Step 4 : Give it a maintenance plan

   Two options. Either upload the manufacturer's manual in the “Manufacturer's service manual” section (see understand the suggested plan), or type at least one task in “Maintenance tasks”. In “Tracking mode & maintenance due dates”, choose “Calendar-based”, “Hour meter” or “Odometer”, then the due interval and the reminder.

   Step 5 : Add the photo

   In “Equipment photo”, tap “Choose a photo” or “Take a photo”. The photo is required to save (see add or change the photo).

   Step 6 : Save

   Click “Add the machine”. The window closes, the “Machine added” message appears and the machine shows up in the list.
