Why my service due date changed (or does not move)
In KALEA, a plan's due date is not a date you set by hand: it is worked out from the plan's tasks. That explains most surprises.
Step 1 : Remember the rule
The plan's due date is the nearest of its tasks' due dates. When a task moves forward or back, the plan's due date is recalculated.
Step 2 : Look at the tasks
Open the machine's page and read the “Due date” column (see read the maintenance plan). The task with the nearest due date is the one that sets the plan's due date.
Step 3 : Did you log an intervention?
Only ticked tasks move forward: their new due date is the reading (or date) entered, plus their interval. Tasks you did not tick do not move. If you ticked few tasks, the plan's due date can therefore stay the same, or stay overdue.
Step 4 : Did you change a frequency or edit the machine?
Changing a task's frequency recalculates its due date (see choose a task's frequency). In “Edit the machine”, changing the in-service date or the interval moves the due date. On a plan that has detailed tasks, the interval you type can be replaced by the one of the task that sets the due date.
Step 5 : To move a due date on purpose
The safe way is to log the intervention and tick the task concerned (see log an intervention), or to change its frequency.
Good to know
- “Schedule a service” in the agenda does not change the plan's due date: it is a separate scheduling (see schedule a service).
- A plan whose tasks are all check points has no general due date: the machine stays “Plan to be defined”.
- A plan with no detailed tasks moves forward when you tick at least one item of its task list while logging (or straight away if that list is empty). When the list exists, a service logged with nothing ticked, or a breakdown repair, does not move the due date.
- The “Maintenance tasks” field in “Edit the machine” is the plan's list only when the plan has no detailed tasks. Otherwise, the detailed tasks are the ones shown and ticked.
